Five Ways to Use Hair Extensions
Hair extensions are a great way to liven up a look, but they’re also expensive, and can be intimidating for first-timers. I happen to be very pro-hair extensions, so fair warning, this post is a bit biased. If hair extensions are something you’re considering, but not entirely sure about, this blog offers five good reasons for hair extensions.
Of course growing your hair out naturally is an obvious choice, and not a bad one. But for some people, whose hair may be brittle or damaged, or naturally thin, hair extensions are a great alternative. If you’re someone who has struggled with growing your hair in the past, or just a tad impatient for your latest style, hair extensions are a great way to quickly and easily add length to your look.
Again, some of us were not blessed with thick or wavy hair. Hair extensions add body and dimension to ordinarily thin hair, making it easier to try curls, waves, or just give you the thick run-your-fingers-through-it hair you’ve always dreamed of.
- Better braids (and up-dos, and twists…)
Oh the woes of thin and brittle hair! While our more voluminous sisters use every special occasion as an excuse to experiment, there are those of us who drool over every glamour shot on Pintrest and twitch at every wedding invitation. Okay, slight exaggeration. (Mostly) But it is true that hair extensions make it simple and easy to add the needed volume for braids and updos as complicated as you like. You could instantly look more glamorous for every special event, or even just because!
The great thing about hair extensions is they’re super simple to clip in, and remove when you’re done. You can even use them to accessorize, weaving extensions into braided headbands or using them to tie a bun in place. It adds a touch of natural glam to your look, without having to fiddle for hours in the mirror.
- Colors and Highlights
I have to be honest. I get a little nervous every time I color my hair. It’s a big change, and I never know if I’m going to keep it for long. Repeatedly dyeing can also cause dry hair and split ends. Hair extensions are a great alternative to dyeing your own hair, since they’re easily removed, and won’t do any damage to your natural hair. If you’ve been looking for a way to drastically change your look, but feel a bit intimidated, hair extensions are definitely the right way to go.
